Typical Corrales Floor Projects
Custom-home garages
Often oversized or oddly shaped, sometimes with extra bays for a workshop or golf cart. Pricing is by square foot, so measure the whole space.
Detached workshops
Woodworking, metal work and vehicle restoration. Floors need impact, chemical and spark resistance.
Equipment bays
Tractors, mowers and trailers are heavy and drip fluids. Thicker systems and a textured topcoat are common.
Tack and feed rooms
A sealed floor is easier to clean. Coatings aren’t usually recommended in stalls or aisles where horses walk, since they can be slippery. Rubber mats are standard there.
Things That Matter More in Corrales
- Dirt and gravel driveways. Many Corrales properties have unpaved drives, so more sand and gravel gets tracked onto the floor. A full-flake, textured finish hides it and holds up better than a smooth solid color.
- Older or owner-built slabs. Barns and shops built over the years may have thinner slabs, no vapor barrier, uneven pours or past patching. Ask the installer to check for moisture and plan repairs.
- Proximity to the river and irrigation. Parts of the village sit low near the bosque and irrigation ditches. Ground moisture under slabs near the valley floor is worth testing for before a coating goes down.
- Unheated outbuildings. Coatings have minimum application temperatures. Shops without heat may need a warmer season or temporary heat during install.
- Distance and access. Some properties have long drives or tight gates. Tell the installer up front so they can plan for grinders, dust collection and material.
Choosing a System for a Working Floor
For shops and equipment bays, ask about thicker builds, chemical-resistant topcoats and slip texture. For a showpiece garage attached to the house, a full-flake epoxy or polyaspartic system is the most common choice. Compare options on the epoxy and polyaspartic pages, and see the shop floors page for heavy-use floors.
